“Hostile and reactionary forces have distorted and smeared” Vietnam’s anti-corruption work, senior official says

On July 10, 2024, the Central Committee’s Inspection Commission held a conference to summarize the inspection and supervision work in the first 6 months of the year, and deploy tasks in the last 6 months of the year.

Speaking at the conference’s conclusion, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu affirmed that checking and handling negative corruption is not “a matter of fighting and internal fighting as the reactionary hostile forces have distorted and defamed.

Since the beginning of the year until now, the struggle at the political upper level of the Communist Party of Vietnam has become increasingly fierce with State President Vo Van Thuong, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Permanent Secretary of the party’s Secretariat Truong Thi Mai being forced to step down. The information about their cases was leaked to the outside very early.

Tran Cam Tu wanted to spread news to justify his inability, when the Party’s inspection and supervision mechanism became paralyzed in the face of secret information being leaked to the outside.

Perhaps, there were the factions within the Communist Party of Vietnam – including his Ha Tinh faction – who leaked information to serve their faction’s interests.

Chairman of the Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Tran Cam Tu spoke on July 10, 2024.
